Najla | Maternity Shoot

This shoot was so fun! This post is super late! Her daughter Sila is now growing up so quickly! She’s probably close to three years old now! But it’s so precious to look back at these gorgeous photos at Lynde Shores Conservation Area in Whitby. Najla is a friend of mine and a Florist/Wedding Designer. She is also a Doula, which is a birth coach and post-birth supporter! She is such a vibrant and kind person. Her husband was also a really sweet guy who showed so much support to her throughout the shoot. What a lovely family mashallah. I was really excited when she asked me to do this shoot. I am not surprised that she planned ahead and picked such a perfect dress for this shoot. Dresses that show movement and have fabric are perfect for maternity photos. She was all for going in the water which is so exciting for me as a photographer. I really wanted to capture how much of a blessing being pregnant is. There is something about an expecting mother-to-be that really warms my heart and bring a soft element to my shoots. I used the natural elements around us such as water, wind and light colours to create the vibe I was going for. You all know by now that I like to add little mystical elements to my photos. I managed to use the rippling of the water around her dress and the fabric to achieve the look I was going for. I’m really happy with this shoot because it shows the natural interaction between Najla and her family, but has an element of majestic beauty to it.
