Kayla & Derik’s Engagement Shoot | Ajax Waterfront

I loved this shoot so much! I met Kayla at TruBliss Yoga Studio in Courtice. I teach Pilates for her mom, Joanne, the owner of the studio. I just love the studio and the warm vibes I get from the clientele. Kayla attends my Pilates classes and I found out she was engaged. My eyes lit up with excitement because I wanted to be the first one to do her Engagement photoshoot. I really like Kayla, we both love cats and Bridgerton and I knew it would be such a fun shoot. So, after some time of talking about this shoot, we finally made it happen! It was so nice to meet Derik, they are a perfect match for each other! I had chosen to take these photos at this incredible staircase I found at the Ajax waterfront. It is a hidden gem. If I knew this staircase existed before, I would have certainly taken advantage of it with my past couples! It was an absolutely gorgeous day for this photoshoot. We did the shoot right at sunset time and I was able to use the sun and lighting to my advantage. I loved Kayla’s use of heart-shaped sunglasses. We ended the shoot in the water. The colour of the sky was magnificent. I loved how I didn’t have to pose them much. I just let them be themselves. They are naturals in front of the camera. They both met at the Oshawa Little Theatre years ago where they performed in plays together. I’ve always been drawn to friends who were into acting. I just find they have the best personalities!
